- INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT - Using independent judgment assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients

- RESOURCE - Act as a clinical resource and role model for department personnel
- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs
- STRATEGIC INITIATIVES - Active participation in nursing strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring, TJC compliance, recruitment and retention of staff and patient and employee satisfaction
- DELEGATE - Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers
- DUTIES - As needed, RN may be required to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients
- ADPIE - Ensure ability to assess, initiate and document nursing assessment, plan of care, interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status
- TIME MANAGEMENT - Ensure ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools in a timely and accurate manner
- SHIFT ASSIGNMENTS - Designate shift and schedule assignments call in staff, send staff home and monitor attendance; assign duties in accordance with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registry and monitor completion of duties according to departmental and hospital policies
- PATIENT SAFETY - Report potential and actual patient safety, concerns, medical errors and or near misses in a timely manner thru the chain of command and document within the PSN system
- PATIENT CARE - Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional psychological and spiritual support to patient, friends and families
- PATIENT CARE - Promote patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, identified ley caregiver and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions
- TEAMWORK - Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams and resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
- PATIENT SAFETY - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- PATIENT SAFETY - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- PATIENT SAFETY - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- PATIENT SAFETY - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- PATIENT SAFETY - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

- Bachelor's Degree
- Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate
- Nursing
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification w/in 6 months
- Basic Arrhythmia Cert w/in 1 year
- RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
- Certified in area of specialty
