    Summary



    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.



    Duties


    These Assistant Nurse Manager positions are located in Primary Care Service at the Providence location. These positions are full-time at 40 hours per week.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Acts as the Nurse Manager during times of their absence.
    • Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care.
    • Applies skills necessary to identify, coordinate, and/or identify discipline-specific education, as well as training in leadership, professional staff development and emerging needs, to all levels of staff.
    • Serves as the first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations of their units, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice.
    • Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates.
    • Making recommendations for appointments, advancements or reassignments of subordinates.
    • Giving advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters.
    • Provides oversight for, staffing, counseling and disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
    • Responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patients satisfaction, patient employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
    • Responsible for staffing units and working with other Nurse Managers to identify and share resources.
    • Orienting new Assistant Nurse Managers.
    • Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
    • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
    • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
