    As an Underwriter, you will play a vital role in processing new business applications, evaluating eligibility based on company guidelines, and managing policy change requests for both new and existing clients.

    Essential Job FunctionsMastery of Senior Underwriting Assistant functions with progression to the following:

    Review insurance applications for compliance and adherenceAssess wind loss exposures and determine underwriting alternativesContact field representatives to obtain further informationExplain underwriting policies and proceduresScreen applicants based on set criteriaUtilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new policiesDecide whether to offer insuranceDetermine appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage

    Underwriting new business, reviewing endorsements, policy changes, cancellation requests, and inspectionsAccept, modify, or reject risks based on analysis, experience, and judgment for new business and renewal policiesIdentify and analyze loss experience, investigative reports, claims activity, file information, and nature of risks in order to reach sound conclusions

    Underwriting new business, reviewing endorsements, policy changes, cancellation requests, and inspectionsAccept, modify, or reject risks based on analysis, experience, and judgment for new business and renewal policiesIdentify and analyze loss experience, investigative reports, claims activity, file information, and nature of risks in order to reach sound conclusionsAbility to process all policy forms in all statesParticipate in projects/assignments as requestedRely on experience and judgmentAbility to accomplish daily goalsAdhere to policies and procedures of employee handbookPerform other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills & AbilityThorough knowledge of UPCIC manuals, policies, and proceduresThorough industry knowledgeAbility to utilize available resourcesProficient in processing all business unitsOrganizational, prioritization, and multitasking skillsCritical and analytical thinkingVersatility – skilled in more than one areaPositive work record and evaluationsExemplary attendance recordReading, writing, typing and computing skills necessary to do the jobPossesses creativity and latitudeStrong interpersonal skillsDemonstrates teamwork and ability to develop productive relationships with peers and management.

    Ability to communicate – listening, written, and verbal skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyMaintain quality control standards while maintaining production standards by Company's definitionMust possess Florida Insurance Licensure: 20-44 or 2-20Industry leading medical, dental and vision insurance plan401(k)
