    MAJOR FUNCTION:

    The Director, Teaching , Learning and Engagement position is housed within the Academic Affairs office and will report to the Associate Vice President.

    This administrative leadership position creates and facilitates development of programs to support the professional and personal growth of College faculty.


    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

    Masters Degree and three (3) years of classroom teaching experience in an academic discipline at the collegiate level or secondary level, and/or experience administering a Center for Teaching Excellence or similar program providing training in areas such as assessment, curriculum design, or faculty development.

    Faculty Planning, development, and implementation of teaching and learning programs and workshops for full-time faculty and for adjunctsResponsible for providing training that supports student success through excellence in teaching and learning processes.

    Coordinates ongoing activities crucial to the department, such as directing professional development activities; administering new faculty and adjunct programs.

    Provides leadership and counsels faculty and learning support staff regarding best practices in teaching and learning including those involving emerging technologies.

    Assists faculty and learning support professionals in design, implementation, and evaluation of teaching innovations, and planning of instructional projects.

    Provide administrative leadership and support services for service-learning activitiesProvide service-learning direction, coordination, planning, design, and managementParticipate in creating assessment tools and evaluates service-learning initiativesUtilize a data-informed approach to identifying faculty development needs and work directly with faculty and academic departments and programs to create workshops and facilitate various professional development opportunities that will improve faculty capacity to respond to the changing needs of studentsCoordinate pedagogical training opportunities for Math Champions and Writing ChampionsCoordinate and facilitate pedagogical training for all charter schools authorized by TCCCoordinate orientations for all new teachers hired for the charter schools authorized by TCCAdministration: Directs the day-to-day administration of the Teaching and Learning Academy including providing support for teaching and learning in all divisions of the college.

    Recommends and oversees the department budgets.

    Tracks and plans effectively for changes in local, state, and federal laws as they affect the teaching and learning process.

    Supports and carries out policies established by the District Board of Trustees and follows procedures established by the College.
    Builds and maintains a resource center for the enhancement of teaching and learning including the online component.
    Maintains website and portal information relevant to the department.
    Maintains appropriate minutes and other records of departmental activities.


    Students:
    Creates and sustains programs and procedures that foster a positive student learning environment.
    Promotes and provides an environment that supports student learning.
    Researches and shares best practices for active student learning and engagement.
    Collaborates with other departments to provide faculty and staff with information related to student resources.
    Provides professional development focused on student success.

    Actively participates in professional organizations and professional activities as appropriate to the mission and goals of the departments and college.


    SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:
    Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws as they affect the teaching, learning and leadership process. Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning. Knowledge of theories, practices, and current trends as they relate to training programs. Knowledge and/or experience using training techniques. Budget management skills. Skills in the use of Workday, Microsoft Office, applicable software, and institutional communication, assessment, and web tools. Ability to initiates professional development activities. Ability to hire, supervise and evaluate staff. Ability to plan, develop and implement faculty workshops. Displays a high standard of professionalism and character. Values mutual respect and integrity in all matters. Displays a willingness to learn and demonstrates the ability to adapt to a changing education landscape.
