Job description

We are seeking a mechanically focused Product Engineer to design, build, and support electromechanical products used in behavioral science research.

The main emphasis of this role is mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and implementation, with secondary responsibilities that include evaluating electrical components and understanding firmware/software interactions.

You will develop new products, improve existing designs, and ensure they are manufacturable and reliable. The role includes hands-on device assembly, troubleshooting, and working directly with customers to resolve technical issues.

This position also provides specialized technical support, including travel to Europe a few times per year to install equipment, train users, and perform advanced troubleshooting.

This role works closely with leadership, external manufacturing partners, and internal teams to bring innovative, high‑quality products to market.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
Strong mechanical design foundation; CAD proficiency required (at least 3 years of experience)
Familiarity with electronics, sensors, and basic programming concepts
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to travel up to ~15%, including international travel to Europe
Comfortable working hands‑on with tools, prototypes, and small assemblies
Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Provide technical support and training to clients (implementing FAQ videos to minimize this work)
