Inova's 10-month Respiratory Therapy Residency Program exposes new graduate respiratory therapists to comprehensive clinical experiences that will enhance their expertise and proficiency in advanced patient management.Responsibilities
- The Respiratory Therapist Applicant administers basic respiratory care therapeutics and diagnostic services with skill and proficiency.
- Consistently performs basic clinical assessments (i.e. pulse rate, respiratory rate, breath sounds, cough/sputum, chest wall/movement, perceived work of breathing etc.) of the cardiopulmonary system with a moderate degree of accuracy.
- Clinical training includes hands-on experience in various settings such as adult and pediatric general and intermediate care units medical surgical ICU neuroscience ICU cardiovascular ICU trauma surgical ICU adult and pediatric emergency department including level one trauma pediatric ICU pediatric cardiovascular ICU neonatal ICU level four small baby unit SBU upon completion of the residency program therapists who demonstrate exceptional clinical professional skills are invited to apply for an advanced three month fellowship to further their skills specialization in respiratory care job responsibilities include administering basic respiratory therapeutic interventions collecting specimens performing basic diagnostic testing requirements for consideration include associate degree in accredited respiratory program CRT or RRT upon start BLS from AHA upon start VA law states that individuals who have graduated from an accredited RT education program may practice with the title RT applicant until they receive a failing score on any examination required by the board for licensure or six months from the date of graduation whichever occurs sooner
