    We are looking for a

    Purchasing Manager

    to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

    Your Responsibilities:
    EMD, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright in Cheswick, PA, is seeking a Purchasing Manager.

    The ideal candidate will play a key role within the Sourcing group, leading the team responsible for securing various commodities/services in the production of goods.

    These commodities/services are obtained through the use of accepted procurement practice with particular attention to timely delivery, quality, and cost.

    This position requires an innovative individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work and lead a diverse group of associates.

    Responsible and accountable for the strategic direction of specific purchased commodities/services to achieve annual and long-term goals and objectives
    Directs the activities of buyers and support personnel to accomplish company objectives; recruits and develops staff as appropriate
    Develops policies and procedures for the continuous improvement of procurement activities
    Negotiates major contracts and supply agreements with suppliers to favorably impact quality, cost, and continuity of supply; manages supplier relationships
    Ensures Team's compliant execution of Government-approved Purchasing System and supplier's execution of purchase orders

    What you Bring:
    Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
    Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent, as well as years of purchasing experience; a Master's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management and ISM (CPSM, C.P.M.) or other nationally-recognized certification in the field of procurement is preferred
    At least 4 years of supervisory experience in the Defense industry (preferably within a low-volume, high mix manufacturing environment); prior procurement leadership experience preferred
    Strong knowledge and experience with Government contracting practices, including hands-on experience with FAR/DFARS, contract negotiations, and related laws and regulations
    Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, and logistics
    Planning, negotiation, and execution skills essential, as are project management and strategic sourcing experience/skills
    Demonstrated success in driving cost reductions and superior customer service
    Knowledge and experience with Lean/Six Sigma problem-solving tools and concepts
    Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to energize and build consensus with staff, peers and direct reports
    Ability to develop and execute strategic plans
    Excellent cross-functional interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills
    Self-starter, highly-motivated, action-oriented, proactive, collaborative, and results-driven
    Proven project management skills, developing action plans from strategic initiatives, and driving results through accountability
    Excellent organization, communication (written and oral), time management, and presentation skills
    Demonstrated ability to develop direct reports
    Comfortable presenting to, and interfacing with, Senior Leaders; comfortable with ambiguity
    Travel – 10% annually
