    Description

    Summary:

    The HSE Technician provides site support for all Health, Safety, and Environmental programs for one or more sites. This includes safety inspections and documentation, training, and environmental programs requirements.

    Key Function Areas of Responsibility:

    • Drive awareness, ownership, and accountability of the site HSE programs
    • Adherence to all HSE protocols, records, and training for the site
    • Site safety and environmental training and support

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the Director, HSE and/or site leadership to ensure alignment and compliance with state, federal, and company safety policies and regulations.
    • Assist the site maintain proper documentation of monthly safety inspections.
    • Drive awareness and accountability of site HSE programs.
    • Provide technical expertise, assistance, and/or oversight for the HSE programs at the facilities.
    • Support environmental programs and requirements for air, hazardous waste, wastewater, stormwater.
    • Strict adherence to all HSE protocols at the site.
    • Maintain accurate HSE records as required.
    • Prepare training documents, job-safety-analyses, and other documents related to site safety activities; retaining records relating to these items is critical.
    • Conduct inspections and audits of site as required by the site safety programs.
    • Maintain a strong presence onsite through site walks, inspections, etc.
    • Develop operational knowledge and functional understanding of both plant and field activities.
    • Assist in the investigation of near misses, accidents and injuries and document the testimonies, conditions, and causes and determine the recommended actions to prevent recurrence. Implement actions and follow up to determine the effectiveness of actions taken.
    • Conduct internal audits to support industry and government compliance programs (such as GFIS and DHS).
    • Address and follow-up of daily safety issues and concerns.
    • Maintain company emergency action plan.
    • Raise safety awareness by developing and maintain safety awareness programs (i.e. fall protection, PPE, respiratory protection)
    • Annual environmental reporting to include stormwater, air permit and EPCRA reporting
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, or related degree preferred; High school diploma required
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in employee health and safety field required; 0-2 years experience accepted with degree;
    • Chemical industry experience highly preferred;
    • Must have knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines
    • Must have knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations
    • Knowledge of GFSI (food safety) requirements highly preferred.
    • Experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions high preferred.
    • Experience with waste management and Tier II requirements preferred.
    • Understanding of risk analysis tools and techniques required.
    • Must be highly proficient in MS Office tools. Ability to prepare, import, and manipulate information in spreadsheets.
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and must be highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Engage effectively with senior management, project teams, and key functional teams
