- Facilitating active community participation in planning work.
- Communicating planning policies to the public.
- Preparing action plans that will lead to results.
- Complete background research, analysis, and GIS mapping to support project planning.
- Facilitate public participation activities to identify issues, opportunities, and priorities.
- Collaborate to recommend strategies to address needs and promote economic and community development.
- Participate in public workshops and steering committee meetings, including evening meetings.
- Prepare interim and final planning documents including writing, mapping, and graphic design.
- Interact effectively with others including community leaders, residents, stakeholders, elected officials, consulting firms partnering with HWC, state agencies, and HWC staff.
- Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design, public policy, landscape architecture or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS is beneficial, but not required.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to think critically, manage time and problem solve.
- Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
- Complete competence working well independently and on a team.

HWC is seeking a Planner to assist Indiana communities in preparing and implementing long-range community and economic development strategies. As a key member of our Indianapolis planning team, we are looking for an individual who will be responsible for
HWC delivers plans through a multi-disciplinary team of professionals so that our plans are visionary, technically sound and market driven. Our planning studio consists of planners, landscape architects, engineers, and economic development professionals.
