    Job Description

    The Recreational Therapist is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activity services for the assigned program. This role involves setting treatment goals, providing continuous patient care, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy or related discipline
    • Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or eligibility
    • Knowledge of behavioral healthcare techniques
    • Skills in organizing workloads, applying policies, and coordinating care within a team framework

    Additional Certifications:

    • CPR certification for healthcare professionals
    • Annual professional skills verification
    • "Handle with Care" (psychiatric crisis management) certification

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Customer Service:
      • Maintain attentive and helpful communication.
      • Observe professional awareness and boundaries.
      • Ensure timely and professional phone communication.
    • Recreation Therapy Services:
      • Assess and document patient changes.
      • Provide psychosocial and recreational skills development.
      • Apply crisis intervention techniques.
      • Assist patients in achieving independent functioning.
    • Milieu:
      • Plan and evaluate activity therapy for assigned patients.
      • Monitor therapeutic space, supplies, and equipment.
      • Demonstrate knowledge of group dynamics and processing.
    • Medical Records and Confidential Communication:
      • Maintain sensitivity and confidentiality in handling medical/psychiatric information.
      • Ensure legible and timely medical records entries.
    • Demands/Work Environment:
      • Indoor climate-controlled environment.
      • Vision and hearing abilities are required.
      • Occasional exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials.
      • Physical demands include sitting, stooping, standing, walking, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
