    Description

    VCA Veterinary Emergency and Veterinary Specialty Center, in Middleton, WI is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Team Snapshot of the Role: As an Emergency team member, you will support the Emergency doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

    Our Emergency and Critical Care Technicians thrive in a fast-paced service, handle critical case, and enjoy the stimulating caseload. Our Technicians have the opportunity to sharpen and advance their technical skills every day. Performing triage assessments and prioritizing cases as they present
    Manage the ER by assigning clinicians to cases as they present and coordinate timely interventions as needed
    Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.
    Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of their pets and home care
    Placing intravenous catheters, performing laboratory diagnostics
    Performing abdominal and thoracic radiographs
    Assisting with examinations
    Inducing, maintaining, and monitoring anesthesia for ER procedures
    Recovering patients from anesthesia
    Performing nursing care of all patients presenting to the ER
    Run diagnostics and correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient and notify clinicians with results.

    Assisting the ER clinicians with providing instruction and demonstration of emergency medicine skills to veterinary students, interns, and residents in a clinical setting.

    Assist students with accomplishing the necessary student learning objectives
    Develop professional relationships with the CSR team to aid in providing outstanding customer service to all ER clients
    Enter charges for all triage patients and document treatment sheets
    Assist in providing clinical support to doctors and other technicians/nurses
    Provide restraint of patients without risk to patient, self, and others.
    Abide by appropriate hospital SOPS for infection control when handling patients, providing interventions/treatments, and processing/performing diagnostic testing.
    Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients based on attention to detail
    Utilize monitoring equipment and recognize trends
    Assist with clinical procedures and offer direction to others.
    Maintain a clean and organized work environment
    Participates in CE for the purpose of personal development and development of a critical care mindset
    Foster effective communication with both internal and external clients and referring hospitals


    Schedule:
    Full-time opportunity, Swing / 2nd shift. We utilize a 4x 10 hour or 3 x 12 hour schedule.

    Not looking for full-time? No problem Compensation: Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field.
