    Classification: Non-exempt, part-time

    Location: Mostly telecommute with occasional meetings in Rockville or Washington DC

    Job Description: We are looking for mid-level copyeditors to support a variety of government-agency based full-time positions. Position requirements will vary from position to position and may require subject matter expertise on topics such as public health, international development, environmental science, technology, security, finance, and other.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Provide copyediting/proofreading services for publications
    • Ensure that all print deliverables comply with copyright, trademark laws and regulations
    • Devise and establish editorial style sheets and/or templates for use when copyediting/proofreading a variety of print/digital publications
    • Provide editorial services to develop and produce a variety of print, digital and photographic products

    Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field
    • At least (10) years professional editorial/copy editing experience
    • Possess a keen eye for detail and exceptional proofreading skills
    • Experience in reviewing reports and miscellaneous multi-page publications
    • Experience in reviewing financial and agency annual report
    • Superior oral and written communication skills and thorough knowledge of grammar and syntax
    • Outstanding organizational skills
    • Excellent writing skills, ability to analyze, synthesize and condense text
    • Ability to handle tight deadlines and conflicting schedules
    • Ability to work independently, multitask and shift priorities
    • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word; experience with editing electronic manuscripts
    • Ability to edit PDF files using Adobe Acrobat
    • Familiarity with Chicago and AP Style manual
    • Knowledge of writing, editing and style guidelines of the Government Publishing Office
    • Knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
    • Ability to assemble editorial style guide that adheres to GPO style and commercial best practices
