    Job Description

    The City of Renton is recruiting for Pro Shop Counter Staff at the Maplewood Golf Course. The schedule for this position varies and hours can range from hours per week March through November.This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a short term, part-time position.

    This is a ongoing application pool. As positions become available during the season, we will review applications from this posting.

    SUPERVISION:
    Reports To: Golf Professional
    Supervises: none

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Greet and welcome the golfing public in a friendly and helpful manner.
    • Provide City of Renton forms and policy information to the public.
    • Organize merchandise and operate point of sale system.
    • Operate driving range picker.
    • Direct cart staff as required.
    • Wash and stage golf carts as required.
    • Perform duties of range picker as assigned.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • At least 18 years of age.
    • Minimum 1 year of retail sales experience.
    • Successful passing of a background check.
    • Successful passing of a credit check.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the position and an understanding of the game of golf.

    COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of safety guidelines and practices.
    • Skill in overseeing and leading the work of others.
    • Ability to handle conflict and solve problems using tact, patience, and courtesy.
    • Ability to navigate emergency situations.
    • Work with diverse groups of people in a tactful, effective, and respectful manner.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the community and program participants.
    • Follow instructions, both written and verbal.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
    • Move throughout City facilities and buildings,
    • Operate a computer and other office equipment.
    • Communicate with City employees and residents.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Work is performed indoors and outside in all weather conditions.
    • Work evenings and/or weekends as assigned.
