    Job Overview

    This role is part of the Psychiatry SMH Crisis team at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We seek a skilled Clinical Evaluator to join our team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations and risk assessments for patients presenting to CPEP in crisis, including obtaining collateral information and reviewing recent clinical history.
    • Provide assessment and intervention services for children and adults suspected of being victims of abuse, neglect or domestic violence, adhering to program and hospital policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with CPEP nursing staff to maintain patient safety and support symptom stabilization during the evaluation process.
    • Formulate an initial proposal for patient disposition, supporting inpatient admission, extended observation, or discharge as needed.
    • Document clinical evaluations, risk assessments, and summaries of recent clinical history in eRecord.
    • Present findings to the CPEP psychiatrist, informing their psychiatric evaluation and decision-making regarding patient disposition.
    • Direct, develop, and facilitate discharge planning from CPEP for patients not requiring acute psychiatric inpatient admission, collaborating with CASAC, Peer Specialists, and other interdisciplinary team members as needed.

    Requirements

    • Masters degree from a CACREP-accredited program in mental health counseling or a related field, or Master's degree in Social Work.
    • Experience working in acute psychiatric care settings.
    • TWO years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred.
    • Knowledge and skills in behavioral health assessments, crisis interventions, safety planning, and referrals for community-based services.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to biopsychosocial care, and dedication to delivering integrated team-based care.
    • Demonstrated cultural humility, anti-racism values, and commitment to ensuring patient inclusivity.
    • NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, Mental Health Counselor) or eligibility for limited permit required.
