    Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary will be determined by factors including scope, complexity, location, candidate skills, education, training, credentials and experience, and other conditions of employment. Employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

    Salary Range $81, $134,500.00

    What Is the Opportunity?


    We are seeking a highly experienced and inspiring Senior Copy & Content Lead to own our brand voice and narrative integrity. Reporting to the Manager of Content & Messaging, this role defines and deploys a cohesive voice, brings our small business insurance expertise to life, and drives SEO and AEO optimization through our copy.

    Brand Voice Ownership

    • Define and Own Brand Tone of Voice (TOV): Develop, maintain, and distribute TOV guidelines across the organization.
    • Channel Adaptation: Lead adaptation of the core TOV and content for specific channels (e.g., social media vs. website).
    • Strategic Narrative & Messaging: Master storyteller; translate brand values, reasons-to-believe (RTBs), and consumer insights into compelling narratives.
    • Build Credibility for our Insurance Expertise: Create a content ecosystem that highlights Simply Business' expertise in small business insurance, including product content and related topics.
    • Product Marketing & GTM Alignment: Partner with Product Marketing & GTM to integrate core claims and product messaging into narratives and campaigns.
    • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with channel owners across organic and paid channels to develop targeted brand stories.

    Creative & Team Leadership

    • Creative Partnership: Work with the Sr. Manager, Creative and design teams to ensure copy and visuals are integrated and aligned with campaign goals.
    • Team Management & Mentorship: Manage and mentor in-house and freelance copywriters, providing editorial direction to maintain output quality and consistency.

    Content Creation & Oversight

    • SEO & AEO Content Optimization: Partner with SEO/AEO teams to ensure content is optimized for discoverability.
    • High-Priority Content Creation: Execute high-impact copy tasks for flagship content and major campaigns.
    • Content Supervision and Quality Control: Develop updated editorial guidelines and provide final sign-off on messaging and copy quality across marketing assets.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Copy Leadership: Senior or lead copywriting/editing experience with a strong portfolio in brand storytelling across formats.
    • Editorial Expertise: Ability to define and govern a complex brand voice and style guide for a scaling organization.
    • Deep Understanding of SEO & AEO: Experience driving measurable SEO & AEO optimization through content.
    • Finance and Insurance Experience: Understanding of commercial/business insurance products and regulations.
    • Mentorship and Management: Experience mentoring or supervising in-house staff and freelance copywriters.
    • Creative Collaboration: History of working with art directors, designers, and creatives to build integrated assets.
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate complex business/product information into clear, persuasive consumer copy.
    • Attention to Detail: Excellent grammar, spelling, and meticulous editorial standards.

    • Excellent verbal and presentation skills to influence stakeholders.
    • High attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to work independently or in a team.

    Must Have

    • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience as a copywriter, preferably in marketing, advertising, or in-house marketing.
