    As a Herman Miller Seating Store - General Manager, you will provide guidance and education through a demonstration/fit journey.

    With the primary responsibility of guiding our clients to the products that will assist in their wellness journey, this role requires active team engagement, effective communication and coaching for results.

    The General Manager is responsible for being an authority on our Herman Miller products and conveying the full assortment and benefits.

    You will lead by example, coach and provide an exceptional customer experience that is in alignment with the Herman Miller core values.

    It will be your responsibility as the General Manager and brand ambassador to deliver the Herman Miller Client Experience through team coaching of demonstrations, quoting, and generation of sales.

    You will be expected to train and inspire your team to achieve Store Sales Plan. You will report into a Regional Manager.

    Herman Miller Task Seating General Managers work strategically to maximize their Store revenue and efficiently manage all aspects of sales and merchandising.

    A General Manager's role is to seek continuous improvement and develop their teams to deliver the Herman Miller Client Experience.

    This includes but is not limited to hiring effectively, performance management, and employee relations in partnership with Human Resources and the Regional Manager.


    What youll do:
    Youll have opportunities to lead a team, create a performance culture, inspire results through engagement and own your Store's business through the Client Experience:

    • Develop, lead, and motivate team through effective performance coaching, feedback and training.
    • Manage talent acquisition, development and team retention
    • Foster the Herman Miller Client Experience
    • Engage in performance management on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
    • Ensure the Studio represents the best in presentation by utilizing visual directives and our standards manual
    • Ensure all Studio operational procedures are followed to maximize profit and manage expense control goals (e.g., scheduling and managing store shipments, controllable expenses, and supplies).
    • Resolve employee relations issues of sales team members in partnership with HR.
    • Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
    • Build positive working relationships with Store team, HM and DWR General Managers and their teams and the Regional Manager to share business insights and best practices and develop strategies to grow the business across all channels and brands.

    This might be you if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:

    • Minimum 5 to 7 years of retail management experience, a proven track record of successful leadership and an in-depth knowledge of the retail industry.
    • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills, with strong emphasis on listening; demonstrated people management skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
    • Demonstrated design skills and a passion for the technical design and human ergonomics
    • Ability to inspire team to conduct effective demonstrations in a high traffic environment
    • Ability to adhere to high personal performance standards; integrity, business ethics and the desire for continuous improvement
    • Ability to build relationships and trust with direct reports, peers, and Store clientele
    • Financial literacy, business acumen and ability to manage budgetary responsibilities.
    • Experience with a POS system and proficiency with MS Office software, web navigation and 3-D rendering programs.
    • Able to routinely move objects weighing more than 20 pounds and to understand safety requirements.
