- Assists the dentist in all dental procedures.
- Completes Time Out/Intake (blood pressure, pulse, pain scale, chief complaint) on all patients.
- Breaks down and sets up operations.
- Properly sterilizes operatories and equipment between patients.
- Takes X-rays; develops X-rays; mounts X-rays.
- Keeps the operatories well stocked with supplies. Orders supplies as necessary.
- Stores and keeps track of all dental laboratory cases.
- Fills out and tracks Medicaid/insurance pre-authorizations.
- Monitors the upkeep of dental equipment on a weekly basis.
- Tests the autoclaves on a weekly basis.
- Assists in laboratory duties.
- Makes sure patient is properly draped and ready for procedure.
- Wears proper protective equipment during procedures, to include gloves, gown and mask.
- Reports any equipment repair that is needed to the supervisor.
- Prepares for and acts appropriately to medical emergencies in the dental office.
- Must be available to rotate on occasion, as may be necessary, to other DRCHC sites (Bossier, Gilliam, Haynesville, Minden, or Shreveport). Remove sutures and post-extraction dressings.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Dental Assistance Program.
- Must be certified to assist in dentistry in the State of Louisiana.
- Prefer one year's experience in practice of dental assistance.
- License and/or Certification Required
- Experience with electronic health records required, preferably NextGen or similar EHS.
- Must be available to work after hours and weekends as required by management.

The Dental AssistantFloater assists the dentist in all dental procedures. The Dental AssistantFloater prepares and maintains operatories and equipment to include sterilization for all dental procedures. The Dental AssistantFloater may process paperwork related to dental patient care. The Dental AssistantFloater will follow their assigned Dentist and fill in if operation necessity may arise. The Dental Assistant Floater will rotate to other DRCHC sites (Bossier, Gilliam, Haynesville, Minden, or Shreveport).
