    Rantoul City Schools is hiring a Nurse at Pleasant Acres Elementary.

    JobSummary:

    Provide support and implementation of programs and services for special education students with identified health care needs.

    General Qualifications:
    • Minimum certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) or certification as a Licensed Practial Nurse;
    • Either:
      • 60 college hours or
      • Meets ISBE approved paraprofessional qualifications preferred but not necessary;
    • Physically able to lift, transfer, and/or restrain students.
    • Able to read and follow written instructions specific to the Individual Health Care Plans for special education students.
    ESSENTIALJOBDUTIES:
    • Provide nursing services, within the scope of practice for an LPN, authorized by the physician(s) and indicated in the health care plan(s) of assigned student(s) when traveling to and from school, and throughout the school day.
    • Maintain accurate health records, within the scope of practice for an LPN, authorized by the physician(s) and indicated in the health care plan(s) of assigned student(s) when traveling to and from school, and throughout the school day.
    • Implement, observe, and monitor the progress of small group and individual academic and/or behavioral programs for special education students as instructed by teachers.
    • Assist, instruct, and/or supervise students during P.E., music, lunch, recess, accompany student on field trips, passing time, leisure, job shadowing/exploration, and/or community instruction.
    • After proper training, assist with toileting, lifting, feeding, and/or physically restraining students (if CPI trained).
    • Implement small motor, gross motor, and communication programs with students as instructed by teacher.
    • Supervise and intervene to regulate student behavior so as to alleviate the risk or inappropriate behaviors that will place students or staff at risk of harm.
    • Make, gather, maintain, and set up instructional supplies, materials, and equipment.
    • Must follow both HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations in the schools; personal and medical information about your student, and all students, is confidential.
    • Exhibit basic literacy of technology, including computers, communication devices, and electronics.
    • Report all unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to the principal promptly.
    • Additional duties as determined by the individual needs of the students as outlined in the IEP.
    Mental Demands:
    • Ability to communicate, instruct, compare, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, evaluate, compute, copy, compile, use interpersonal skills, negotiate, and effectively communicate with co-workers, students, and parents/community members.
    • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
    • Positions are subject to constant interruption and severe time constraints and are in direct contact with students, parents and employees. Negative interactions resulting from these contacts can result in stressful situations.
    • Employees may also work without direct supervision and are responsible for the safety and well being of students.
