    Location: Varies

    The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is a multi-faceted agency that provides services and programs to enhance family self-sufficiency and ensure safety for children and vulnerable adults.

    Position Summary:

    • Provide services to individuals and families to ensure safe, stable homes for children
    • Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect
    • Make referrals to community resources
    • Work with families to create case plans
    • Complete court reports and provide testimony

    Responsibilities:

    • Investigate allegations of child and adult abuse, neglect, and/or dependency
    • Recruit, train, and approve foster/adoptive homes
    • Meet with family members to determine neglect and/or abuse reports
    • Complete detailed assessments based on case management work
    • Make referrals to community resources
    • Enter case information into the computer
    • Complete court reports and provide testimony during hearings
    • Work with community partners such as law enforcement and school systems

    Requirements:

    • Experience working with adults, children, and families
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Good time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Willingness to work as part of a team

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): If employed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, possession of a valid driver's license is required. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or credentials throughout employment.

    Working Conditions: Performs job duties in an office/facility or residential program setting. Provides emergency services on a 24-hour basis. Worker may face physical risk due to enforced intervention.

    Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months.
