    About the recruitment process:


    The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) recruitment process generally consists of the following steps for permanent hires.

    The interview process may differ for temporary hires, for exempt staff positions, or in circumstances in which an outside recruiter is being used.

    The specific order below may also differ depending on the type of position and number of candidates. AHA reserves the right to interview candidates as they apply.

    Application:
    Candidates fill out the AHA application

    and submit answers to supplemental questions (if required). Candidates are asked to closely read the job description before applying. AHA's website is also a useful resource.

    First interview:
    This is usually held via online video, for roughly 30-45 minutes.
    Online Testing –

    Candidates complete online testing through an AHA vendor. Candidates should watch for this in their email. This may be sent before or after the first interview.
    Second interview

    – This is held in person at our offices at 701 Atlantic Avenue and a written test that is specific to the position is also done at the same time. Candidates should allow 2 hours in total.

    for some positions, a third interview or tour of the properties is held).

    References:
    Three references are required.
    These may be checked before the first or second interview. Please include prior supervisors in your list of references.

    Offer:
    Conditional offers are made in writing by HR. Generally, offers are time limited (2 business days).

    Background check:
    This is done after acceptance of the offer and before the start date.

    Start date:
    New hires start on Monday (unless Monday is a holiday). The start date is usually no sooner than 2 weeks from the offer date. If a candidate needs a later start date, they should indicate that in the application form.
