    Remote / Virtual / Work From Home** ** Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following states within 30 days: Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization that creates education opportunities for peers to share the tools and resources young people need to make healthy decisions.

    Since 2003, we have trained more than 15,000 college students to deliver in-person health education to over 188,000 high school-aged young people in communities across the country.

    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we re-designed our in-person programming to be delivered virtually and partnered with high school students to understand their mental health needs.

    Following that collaboration, we launched our app for young people ages 13 – 18. In the past year, we've expanded from two in-person program models to five in-person and digital program offerings and we are continuing to grow Check us out on TikTok (@peerhealthexchange)

    As the Director, Finance you will create and maintain the appropriate infrastructure for efficient processes and for ensuring effective practices in finance and accounting.

    You will report directly to the VP, Finance & Administration.

    About the Finance & Administration team

    The small but mighty Finance, Technology and Operations team, also known as FTO Team is in charge of three main functions: 1) finance and accounting (from budgeting and ensuring financial sustainability to processing accounts payable); 2) internal technology (monitoring systems and deploying hardware); 3) operations (supporting and managing our nationwide offices).

    This is a full-time, exempt salaried remote position based in any PHE registered state.

    Financial Management

    Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting and financial activities, including accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

    Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws
    Lead and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors
    Provide support to the VP, Finance & Administration in creating financial ad hoc reports to provide visibility about the financial health of the organization

    Data Analysis, Systems Management & Staff Trainings
    Oversee the research, selection and integration of accounting, budgeting and other systems with new platforms
    Conduct a comprehensive review and analysis of financial data, prepare and present financial reports and budgets, including monthly financial statements and annual financial reports
    Create and implement effective and relevant staff trainings in conjunction with other departments

    Manage and mentor direct reports to a sustained high level of performance through coaching, mentorship, to ensure that they have the necessary tools and resources to perform their duties effectively
    Create and implement effective and relevant staff onboarding and training in conjunction with other departments
    Mange and train the Staff Accountant


    Demonstrate a strong passion for PHE's mission to build healthier communities with young people; Centers youth inclusion, community partnership, and equity work visibly, broadly, in action in part through deep listening and hearing with a lens of inclusion.

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    7 years of relevant accounting and finance experience Strong understanding of accounting for non-profit organizations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Strong knowledge of Excel Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    Demonstrated experience with final responsibility for the quality and content of financial data, reporting and/or audit coordination
    Ability to manage and mentor a team of financial professionals effectively
