Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator / Process Engineer to support our metal fabrication and welding operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical drawings, developing manufacturing processes, and improving production efficiency. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in metal fabrication, welding processes, and manufacturing workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations.
Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and production costs for fabrication and welding projects.
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for sheet metal and structural fabrication.
Plan production workflows, tooling requirements, and fabrication methods.
Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and shop personnel to ensure efficient operations.
Support welding and fabrication processes, including MIG and TIG welding standards.
Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for material sourcing and pricing.
Provide technical support to manufacturing and project teams.
Maintain documentation including estimates, process plans, and production specifications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3-7+ years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, structural fabrication, and welding processes (MIG/TIG).
Experience with cost estimation and production planning.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with manufacturing teams or shop floor operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in process improvement or lean manufacturing.
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
CAD software experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Strong communication and project coordination skills.
