- Assists the Middle School Principal (e.g. budget, requisitions, records, inventory, master calendar, supervision of students, evaluations, communication with outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an efficient an effective curricular and extracurricular program for the students, staff, and parents.
- Attends curricular and extracurricular programs and meetings (e.g. district meetings, faculty advisory athletic events, concerts, plays, PTA, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing the efficient and effective operation of the school.
- Composes a wide variety of materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, articles for newsletters, information to students, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
- Facilitates meetings, processes, etc. (e.g. special education student assistance team, community social service agencies, facility and department coordinators, etc. ) for the purpose of meeting curriculum guidelines and/or ensuring that state and federal mandates are achieved.
- Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents (e.g. parent/student curriculum information sessions, district wide curriculum meetings, parent/teacher conferences, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
- Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Manages a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, student attendance, master schedule, student schedules, registration, staffing needs, in-service programs, assigned personnel, building use, emergency preparedness plan (fire drills, severe weather drills, and civil defense emergency drills), etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Presents information (e.g. budget overviews, accounting processes, staffing needs, curricular programs, extracurricular programs, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal (e.g. athletic program; Special Needs Team; Building Utilization Plan; evaluation of certified, classified and extracurricular staff; support services (custodial, transportation, cafeteria); etc. ) for the purpose of maintaining an effective and efficient curricula and extracurricular program for middle age students.

The job of Assistant Middle School Principal is done for the purpose/s of supporting the Middle School Principal, performing school site activities as may be delegated by Principal; and representing the school within district and community. This job reports to the Middle School Principal.
Essential Functions
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; stages of child development; age appropriate activities; and concepts of grammar and punctuation.
ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
