    Intern Dates: July 2024 through December 2024

    Pay Rate: Hourly pay rates based on:

    • Current Undergraduate Student: $
    • Current Graduate Student: $

    Positions Available: 2

    Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week - up to 29 hours per week.

    *Maximum of 29 hours per week not to be exceeded.

    Location: 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SE. Suite 754 East Tower Atlanta, GA

    Agency Overview

    Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) meets child care and early education needs in Georgia. It oversees Georgia's Pre-K Program, licenses child care centers, administers Georgia's Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program, and manages Quality Rated. It also collaborates with child care resource agencies to enhance early care and education.

    Position Overview

    The Communications office works with the press and develops the agency's strategy. Interns will assist in media responses, press releases, social media posts, interviews, newsletter, video, events, legislative tracking, and more.

    Learning Objectives

    Get insights into communication, government relations at the state level, and early childhood education in Georgia.

    Entry Qualifications:


    - Currently enrolled student with a 3.0 GPA or higher
    - Georgia resident or attending a Georgia educational institution
    - Proficient in MS Office

    Preferred Qualifications:


    - Advanced Excel skills
    - Excellent business writing, organizational, and research skills

    Physical Requirements and Performance Aptitudes:


    - Visual acuity for data analysis and computer work
    - Ability to analyze, prioritize data
    - Receive detailed information through oral communication
    - Exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in decision-making
