Job Title: Substance Use Specialist

CASES is seeking a compassionate and skilled Substance Use Specialist to provide evidence-based substance use treatment to individuals seeking recovery. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, offering individual and group counseling, and developing person-centered, trauma-informed treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, primary care providers, case managers, and peer specialists to ensure comprehensive care and support. They will empower clients on their journey to recovery, guiding them through crisis interventions, relapse prevention, and harm reduction strategies.

This position requires a strong understanding of substance use disorders and experience working in a multidisciplinary treatment setting. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide substance use treatment as a member of a multidisciplinary care team, collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists/PNPs, peer specialists, case managers, nurses, and family members.
Perform Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT).
Develop and implement person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally competent treatment plans.
Identify and engage clients with urgent and crisis substance use needs, assess treatment needs, and provide substance use expertise for evaluation and treatment planning.
Provide individual counseling, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and harm reduction using motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy responses.
Run evidence-based substance use treatment and Relapse Prevention groups.
Act as an advocate and liaison for clients in securing access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), emergency detox, and rehabilitation care, and other community supports that promote integrated substance use or dual disorder treatment.

Requirements:

CASAC, CASAC-T, or ability to receive CASAC within a year of hire; and at least 2 years of experience working in a substance use or mental health treatment setting.
Experience working with people involved in the criminal legal system.
