    Responsibilities As an IT Specialist (Data Management), some of your typical work assignments may include: Leading data policy development and implementation to support mission needs, creating data standards, procedures, and guidelines that support the documentation and implementation of data policies.

    Designing and implementing governance processes that support the execution and implementation of standards, procedures, and guidelines in support of data policies.

    Promoting and enabling a data stewardship framework that facilitates data sharing, collaboration, data quality, and fosters maturation of data management strategies and policies.

    Engaging with Program Office customers to implement data stewardship practices in service of the Commission's data needs.

    Designing optimal data collection and organization processes, methodologies, and technologies for Commission needs throughout the data life cycle, while promoting compliance with federal requirements including the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA).

    Comprehending customer data needs to define FERC's business information layer and regulatory data collections. Contributing to data architectures to support analysis and data driven decision making to serve Program Office missions.

    Supporting customer success, timely communication, project execution, coordinating effective collaboration, and risk management to support the goals and objectives of the Data Governance Division.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or National. You must provide your SF-50 (see Required Documents section). A one-year probationary period may be required. A background investigation is required. This is not a bargaining unit position. Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service. Relocation expenses will not be paid. You may be required to divest certain energy-related securities.

    You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS- 13 level.


    Specialized experience is defined as:
    Experience facilitating effective data and information collections, data cataloging, data architecture, data policy, and data stewardship. Additionally, knowledge of the Open Government Data Act is preferred.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

    Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
