- Serves as the liaison between the District and the Public Education Department for licensure requirements, licensure advancement, substandard internship licensure, and NCLB compliance.
- Analyzes and interprets current and new regulations from the New Mexico Administrative Code for dissemination of licensure requirements, licensure advancement, NCLB, and any other provisions for licensure.
- Provides customer service to all employees, principals, staffing specialists, and directors in resolving issues regarding licensure, advancement, and NCLB requirements.
- Records licensure and NCLB data into the Lawson system.
- Provides accurate information to current employees on the complete advancement process.
- Monitors and submits APS district requirements for the advancement process.
- Monitors required mentorship program for level 1 teachers within the 3-Tier Licensure system to ensure that level 1 teachers have required mentorship prior to advancement.
- Provides accurate information to all applicants and employees on how to apply for New Mexico licensure and how to renew licenses.
- Monitors licensure expiration and notifies all employees yearly of the renewal process during the year of expiration of the license.
- Processes all licensure renewals for certified and classified employees.
- Prepares all correspondence for educators who were previous employees and are renewing licenses.
- Meets with all new hires to verify licensure is obtained. Provides steps on how to complete licensure process.
- Provides information on licensure reciprocity with other states and how it aligns with the New Mexico 3-Tier licensure system.
- Provides information on Alternative Licensure pathways to assist future educators.
- Participates and attends recruiting events scheduled through the Human Resources recruiting team.
- Assists with Para Educator processes such as testing and orientation for Educational Assistant and Health Assistant licensure.
- Associate degree in business-related field.
- Proficient with database software and the ability to develop forms.
- Experience with Lawson software, MS Access software, MS Excel software; MS Word
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Proficient with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to accurately keyboard at a moderate pace.
- Knowledge of state department's requirements for licensure processes.
- Knowledge of legal requirements for fingerprinting and background checks.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years experience in human resources or related field, such as school secretary/clerk.
- Proficient with database (Access) software.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with public education department certification/licensure requirements.
