    Overview:

The Principal Digital Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineer is primarily responsible for IC development from chip architecture definition through release to production. This individual demonstrates aptitude and hands-on capability to design complex digital blocks, with knowledge/experience across the complete ASIC/SoC design flow. The Digital IC Design Engineer will gain experience with radiation-hardened design and analog/mixed-signal design. The Digital IC Design Engineer should be experienced in digital verification, Design-For-Test techniques, Standard Cell Library design methods, and the latest EDA tools.

The individual will apply IC design EDA tools to the design task, stay current in the latest design methodologies and maintain expertise in the latest EDA tools. The Digital IC Design Engineer will design and verify logic circuits, systems, and digital algorithms to meet product requirements. The individual will determine the proper methods and procedures for the digital system development, determine the best method for verifying the digital system before the IC design is committed to silicon, and provide validation and debug support for post-silicon activities.

Additional duties may include evaluation of design requirements, determining design methodologies, formulating estimates of effort/cost for new business proposals, and participation in continuous improvements to internal design methodologies. Hybrid work schedule to include on-site Tuesday -Thursday.

    Responsibilities:
    YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provide technical leadership for new Digital and Mixed-signal ASIC programs.
    • Review and edit target specifications (Frontgrade or External Customers) and translate them into design constraints.
    • Implement digital designs using RTL & Logic Synthesis methods (Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog).
    • Add DFT (Design for Test) logic to the design to efficiently implement testing of the design for manufacturing.
    • Interface with ASIC customers and Frontgrade internal Place & Route Engineers to ensure the ASIC customer designs are correctly implemented in silicon.
    • Develop verification plans, simulation environments, coverage metrics, and perform design verification for digital blocks and systems.
    • Use modern verification methods to verify digital blocks and systems, such as directed/constrained random, assertions, UVM, code coverage.
    • Use modern Static Timing Analysis and Formal Verification tools to verify the correctness of digital gate level implementations.
    • Use the Electro-Migration/IR drop analysis tools/results to address its impacts with the design.
    • Work as part of a cross functional team to develop cost estimates for new ASIC opportunities.
    • Continuously learn and stay current with EDA tools, modern design techniques, technology, architectures, and interfaces.
    • Partner with internal and external customers to develop technical solutions that enable new missions.
    • Provide technical report-outs to peers and occasionally external customers.
    • Create and execute mixed-signal modeling and simulation.
    • Support and lead project planning and Agile project development
    • Help support and lead proposal estimation and technical proposal write-ups for new program pursuits
