Job description
Summary/Objective: Performs assigned, introductory engineering tasks for the design and preparation of plans and details and performs design calculations for projects. Works side-by-side with engineering professionals in a fast-paced, professional environment to apply knowledge and skills learned through a postsecondary civil engineering program.
Essential Functions
- Assists in developing design concepts, studies, and design options
- Performs basic analysis and design calculations under direct supervision
- Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates using computer-aided engineering software
- Performs field investigations and construction administrative duties under direct supervision
- Provides support to engineering staff members as needed
- Assists in reviewing close-out documents as needed
Education/Experience/Skills
- In progress towards earning a BS or MS in a civil engineering or related program, preferably at a junior level or above
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Demonstrates the ability to exercise good engineering judgment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
- Demonstrates ability to successfully engage with professionals at all levels in an engineering environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
