    Position Summary: The Director of Digital Content is responsible for the development and creation of digital content for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. An innovative leader, the content director develops content and manages a cross-departmental team to ensure the Orchestra engages both core and new audiences on digital platforms, including the ASO social media platforms, as well as via all electronic media, including Behind the Curtain, radio, television, digital broadcasts, and recordings.

    Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Communications, the Director understands the potential for audience growth on digital platforms and builds effective strategies for the future in a cost-effective and sustainable way. The Director oversees content development processes that are suitable to individual platforms, and identifies content partnerships and producers, working effectively with them to deliver superb quality and innovative content. The Director is an experienced and collaborative team leader, responsible for the successful development of the digital content team including in-house staff and outside contractors. The Director can assess industry best practices and has a track record of turning ideas into successful digital content. They can be successful as measured by industry standards, working comfortably and professionally among multiple stakeholders within the inherent challenges of a major orchestral environment. They have a passion for creativity and innovation.

    Responsibilities:

    Developing a long-term strategy and managing the Content team to achieve successful audience growth and engagement, in collaboration with the senior management team, marketing and communications departments, for the Orchestra on digital, social media and traditional broadcast platforms.
    • Builds an annual digital content plan that incorporates winning strategies for relevant digital platforms including and all social media platforms.
    • Ensures ASO social media exemplifies the institution's brand voice, while exploring and recommending new platforms for engagement.
    • Creates a compelling digital content strategy and develops key internal and external partnerships to ensure high quality experiences for the Orchestra audience.
    • Is solution-oriented and able to quickly prioritize and oversee production of relevant content.
    • Closely collaborates with internal colleagues to support institutional goals and set priorities. Acts as liaison between artistic and production departments for Content department, ensuring needs are clearly communicated.
    • Interprets stated artistic and organizational goals and guides the content, production and technical teams to achieve successful outcomes.
    • Manages the Orchestra's digital content budget.
    • Works with Artistic and Library teams to ensure rights and royalties are cleared before projects with approvals. Maintain a log of rights and royalty expiration dates and extend as necessary.
    • Understands orchestra media CBA and implications of digital projects on orchestra schedules. Communicates media clearances to orchestra via Personnel office.
    • Writes storyboard and scripts as necessary for storytelling. Develops strong relationships with the members of the Orchestra.
    • Identifies digital content partnerships to enable growth.
    • Creates and ensures a healthy ongoing content development process that enables creative ideas and inspires creative people both internal and external to the Orchestra.
    • Acts as producer on key projects to ensure success.
    • Support Marketing department activities, such as escorting media and photographers.
    • Regularly reviews and assesses digital content metrics.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Reporting Relationships: The Director of Digital Content reports to the VP of Marketing and Communications and works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications. Direct reports include the Production and Content Manager and Video Editor.
