    Job Description

    The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a member of the Agile Project Management Office (APMO). The RTE is responsible for ensuring that all delivery teams follow AccelerEd's Agile processes and practices while facilitating program increments (PI)s. RTE will work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Agile Coaches, and other delivery team members to foster a culture of relentless improvement and adoption of best practices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead/facilitate/participate all Enterprise Agile and PI Planning ceremonies every quarter
    • Track the progress of the Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure the successful delivery of value to AccelerEd's customers.
    • Direct cross-team collaboration in the ART and resolving enterprise impediments, removing blockers and bottlenecks that impact the speed of delivery.
    • Encourage continuous improvement by supporting Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters to implement enterprise-wide best practices and processes.
    • Assist with creating enterprise performance reports (i.e. flow metrics, burn down, velocity, control charts)
    • Monitor and share ART metrics with AcclerEd Leadership, the APMO and delivery teams, suggest new metrics, and drive improvement using metrics
    • Understand the Software Development Life Cycle
    • Challenge, coach, and guide the organization using Agile principles

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
    • One or more relevant Agile certifications (e.g. SAFe, PMI-ACP)

    Experience:

    • 5-10+ years of relevant professional experience
    • 3+ years of experience acting as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or Agilest/Scrum Master with Agile teams/implementing (scaled) Agile principles
    • 1+ years of experience utilizing agile PM tools (JIRA, Confluence, Rational, etc.)
    • 1+ years of experience with additional Agile frameworks (Kanban)
    • 1+ years of experience running PI Planning sessions

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Iterative, Agile)
    • Experience coaching and training teams to Agile best practices
    • Excellent impediment identification and resolution skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work in team environments across a diverse set of projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Proactive approach to problem-solving

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This job is a hybrid position and is currently based at one of our client's sites in Adelphi, MD. This job operates in a professional office environment.
