    Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

    Key job responsibilities
    - Contribute to the design and analysis of distributed software systems.
    - Contribute to the overall design of the Kuiper telemetry, commanding and control system.
    - Developing cloud native software systems in Java, Go, Rust or Python.
    - Utilize AWS and other services to build highly available and performant services.
    - Be part of the 24x7 operational rotation to support satellite operations.

    Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

    A day in the life
    You will be building the services and communication protocol that enable our ground systems to command and control the satellite constellation. You will design services with a focus on security and reliability. Your work will interface with various subsystems within Project Kuiper and Amazon to enable engineers to safely and efficiently operate the the satellite constellation and its supporting ground infrastructure.

    About the team
    The Ground Control team that owns the software responsible for controlling all components in each of Project Kuiper's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

    This team will drive the design, development, deployment and operation of a critical mission system for the Kuiper constellation from end-to-end. Our service is responsible for establishing satellite control during launch operations, completing the checkout and transition to mission, de-orbit operations as well as anomaly recovery functions.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
    - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
    - Experience programming with at least one software programming language

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
    - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
