    Milwaukee WI, Blue Ash OH, Chesapeak VA, Vancouver WA, San Diego CA

    When applicable additional pay includes Field Rate, OT, and Weekend, Make up to Six Figures SummaryResponsible for basic fixturing, tool set-up, machining, in process inspection, and final completion of moderately tolerance details (+/ Work with machining personnel, field machinists, engineers, and supervisors to plan and execute the most cost-effective method for producing quality parts.

    Operates knee mills, engine lathes, vertical turret lathes, horizontal milling, jib bores and/or grinders.
    Under technical supervision, performs basic/moderate machining and grinding
    For basic/moderate jobs, layout work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications
    For basic/moderate jobs, develop processes, select tooling, and perform setups
    Perform progressive machining operations on work involving moderate tolerances and finish requirements
    Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship
    Complete required inspections, and appropriate paperwork
    Provide feedback to improve programs, processes, tooling etc
    Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area
    Perform shop duties as directed and required.

    RequirementsQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    Education
    High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
    Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred

    Experience & SkillsTwo to three years of progressively responsible related experience


    Specifically, this position requires:
    Experience (2-3 years) with manual machining and grinding
    Ability to read and interpret blueprints & mechanical drawings
    Ability to operate manual machining equipment
    Experience with Bridgeport knee mills
    Experience with engine lathes
    Knowledge of ProtoTRAK mills and lathes or similar conversational programming, preferred
    Knowledge of Kuracki horizontal milling machines, preferred
    Knowledge of DeVileg jig boring machines, preferred
    Knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling
    Knowledge of feeds & speeds
    Knowledge of the machineability of ferrous and non-ferrous materials

    Ability to measure/inspect:
    lengths, diameters, straightness, flatness, etc
    Basic knowledge of GD & T


    Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
    Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.

    Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
    Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
    Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills
    Ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations
    Ability to follow through on projects from conception to completion.

    Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
    Occasionally talk or hear
    Frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls
    Frequently stand and walk
    Frequently climb ladders and stairs
    Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch
    Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs)
    Frequently use portable hand power tools (angle grinder, drill, power hammer, etc.)
    Respirator fit testing and use may be required

    Specific vision abilities:
    include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

    Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job


    These include:
    forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment or a customer site both indoors and outdoors.

    Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.
