    About the Role of Project Engineer

    Joining Psomas' Construction Management (CM) Group, the Project Engineer will be involved in specific tasks for the Bay Area Regional CM Team. This team focuses on overseeing the construction of heavy civil, public works infrastructure projects, such as upgrades to wastewater/water treatment plants, recycled water facilities, pipelines, and pump stations. As a Project Engineer, you will offer technical and administrative support and act as a connection between various parties involved in the projects.

    Working in the field on project sites, candidates must be local or able to commute daily.

    This position is initially for supporting ongoing projects in the East Bay, with future assignments varying in scope and complexity. Projects may encompass civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural aspects.


    Key Responsibilities for the Project Engineer Role

    • Regular coordination with stakeholders, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory bodies
    • Management of construction documentation process, including RFIs, submittals, change management, estimating, scheduling, and reporting
    • Collaboration with the contractor and designer to address construction issues and changes
    • Ensuring project delivery by resolving issues effectively
    • Preparation of project status reports and oversight of inspection reports
    • Supervising field construction management staff and coordinating activities
    • Supporting project labor compliance

    Minimum Qualifications for Project Engineer

    • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in managing construction or engineering design projects
    • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification
    • Understanding of construction process and ability to interpret plans and specifications
    • Capability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a team setting
    • Physical ability to work on construction sites and adhere to safety protocols

    Preferred Qualifications for Project Engineer

    • Active California Professional Engineering (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
    • Experience with start-up, testing, and commissioning
