    Description
    The Associate Actuary, Group Reinsurance is responsible for evaluating the viability of reinsurance proposals by employing sound actuarial methodologies and business judgment, with a focus on group term life and group health transactions. The Associate Actuary, Group Reinsurance will analyze the terms of the transactions, the anticipated profitability and return on capital of potential reinsurance proposals. The Associate Actuary, Group Reinsurance will make recommendations to their manager and other members of senior management based on their analysis.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Supports the corporate goal to grow the assumed reinsurance business operations, participating in the pricing and underwriting process for potential reinsurance transactions.
    • Performs independent analysis of data submitted by ceding companies to price the business and provide quotes.
    • Analyzes the viability and attractiveness of reinsurance proposals.
    • Reviews proposed treaty language and terms of the transaction.
    • Provides recommendations to senior management on reinsurance proposals. Presents and explains pricing results.
    • Supports the execution, approval, and implementation process of reinsurance transactions.
    • Builds tools to manage the portfolio.
    • Analyzes client and industry data to recommend appropriate pricing assumptions.
    • Supports the reinsurance administration for annuity and life insurance treaties. Prepares and reviews treaty settlements, initiates wires, and performs reconciliations when necessary.
    • Supports the Actuarial team and other departments on an as needed basis.
    • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.
    • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

    • Excellent mathematical, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to prioritize workflows, establish and meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
    • Ability to work effectively in a variety of situations and respond to change in a positive manner.
    • Advanced computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems and programs including Microsoft Office, proprietary systems and other technology solutions.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including a high degree of professionalism.
    • Carries out responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with Atlanta Life's Core Values and focus on customer service; helps to create an environment of openness and trust for all employees and strives for continued professional skills development.
    Training or Work Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant actuarial work experience required.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience with group life insurance required.
    • 4 years of experience in reinsurance for group life and/or group health preferred.
    Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree - Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics required.
    Working Conditions:
    • Business Travel: Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
