**Scope of Position:**

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting the Chef in all food and beverage production. The Prep Cook will act as kitchen supervisor in the absence of the Chef.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:**

**Professional:** The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals. Exercise good judgment and be comfortable taking initiative with projects. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**

During Events, set up food service stations

Maintain food and supplies for the Caf

Prepare equipment and obtains supplies as needed

Code invoices and turn them in to the Accounts Payable Clerk

Plan, oversee, and operate supplemental food and beverage services for Caf, vending, and catering and events

Ability to work with and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)

Assures all BEOs are executed correctly and with superior quality standards

Reviews daily Banquet Event Orders and prep lists

Maintains Inventory in the absence of the Chef

Check supplies and inform Chef and/or Events & Catering Coordinator of needed supplies

Compliant with all state and federal food sanitation policies

Rotates food items in Kitchen, Storage, and Caf

Maintains a working knowledge of all menu items and recipes

Keeps the work area clean and orderly at all times

Assist in washing dishes when needed

Responsible for tracking waste and logging in appropriate form

Maintains a high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness

Maintain a safe and sanitary Kitchen and workplace

Follows safety policies at all times to avoid injury

Communicates issues, concerns, complaints, compliments and suggestions to the management of the organization and not to the other associates, guests, etc.

Provide excellent customer service

Assures all food is delivered in rooms at correct time

Assure all food deliveries are accurate and stored appropriately

Attend all related department meetings in absence of Chef

Regular and punctual attendance is an essential job requirement

Prepare and cook meals for Caf, Events, and Banquets

**Physical Requirements**:

Must be well groomed and adhere to the required dress code

Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminishing performance

Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, push, pull, smell, taste, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, close vision, distance vision, talk, hear, have-eye hand coordination, have manual dexterity, speak and read, and working in noisy areas, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position

**Working Conditions:**

The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a motor vehicle record check. They must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.

**Education & Work Experience:**

Must be 18 years old or older.

A minimum of Two (2) year experience in food service experience required.

**License and Certifications:**

Must have current Food Handlers Certificate.

First Aid, CPR, AED certification preferred.

Current driver license preferred.

ServSafe certification preferred.
