Description

Nuts About Science is looking for instructors to teach our after-school Science enrichment classes 2-4 days a week at various elementary schools in Northville and Livonia, MI. This is perfect for teachers who love science and are either retired or want to teach part-time.

INSTRUCTOR JOB SUMMARY:

The "teacher scientist" will be responsible for teaching our hands-on science enrichment lessons to children in elementary schools in Northville and Livonia, Michigan and surrounding area. Teachers interact directly with elementary school employees, parents and children while teaching Nuts About Science enrichment lessons in a positive and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or Science or Senior Level Education Student

• Strong communication, time management and presentation skills

• Valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance and own means of reliable transportation required

• Enthusiastic, organized, self-motivated, dependable and flexible

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Deliver and facilitate hands-on Science programs to elementary-aged students in a safe and fun manner in Northville and Livonia, Michigan and surrounding area.

• Implement sound classroom management techniques during program.

• Attend training sessions, learn program dialogue prior to program delivery.

• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals, calmly and efficiently deal with situations ranging from routine to emergency.

• Ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment including a projector, personal computer, cell phone, copier, elementary scientific equipment.

Ability to transport a 20-30 pound supply cart in and out of your vehicle.

• Willingness to become an Independent Contractor and form an LLC. We assist in this and pay for the first year.

COMPENSATION

Instructors are paid $65 per after school enrichment class.
Standard mileage rate is paid when an instructor drives more than 20 miles for a class.
