- Prepares and fills mail out and window prescriptions including controlled substances.
- Conducts controlled substance inventories and maintains inventory records, if applicable.
- Maintains good workflow patterns to keep outpatient prescription waiting times at appropriate levels.
- Is familiar with a variety of pharmaceutical products including supply items available and is aware of the general process for procurement.
- Responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and reviewing daily operational work and providing support and guidance to pharmacy technician staff.
- Provides support and direction in developing schedule, planning, and rotating duties of pharmacy technician staff.
- Assesses workload volume throughout the day, identifying areas where support is needed and makes staffing adjustments to meet organizational goals.
- Monitors workflow patterns to keep drug distribution in accordance with the necessary requirements.
- Assists with the training, orientation, and re-training (if needed) of employees in the Outpatient Pharmacy according to the Pharmacy Department competencies, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Assists in documenting employee mandatory training and bringing any deficiencies to the attention of a supervisor.
