Structural Engineer
Southern Machinery Company specializes in engineering design and fabrication of steel structures and conveyor systems for aggregate processing plants.

Job Scope:
Coordination of design and drafting operations to carry a project from concept to completion. Proficiency in CAD, structural analysis tools, and Microsoft Office products would be extremely beneficial in executing this task successfully.

Essential Duties:
structural design of concrete foundations, steel structures, and conveyor systems.
Mechanical Design of Drive/Equipment Systems
Ability to complete all detailer jobs.
Check the work of detailers for correctness.
Prevent safety concerns with Southern Machinery Company equipment via design.
Perform as a designer as needed.
Working with project finances.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency with engineering-related software (such as RISA, ACAD, and Autodesk Inventor).
Understanding of engineering and building codes
Previous knowledge with ERP systems is a bonus.
Proven ability and understanding of geometry and trigonometry.
Understand all facets of the aggregate plant.
Show tremendous attention to detail.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Mining Engineering

Experience Requirements:
At least three years of relevant experience

Physical Requirements:

Individual must be prepared for:
Reaching - 10% of shift
Bending - 5% of shift
Pushing - 5% of shift
Pulling - 5% of shift
Climbing - 0% of shift
Sitting - 65% of shift
Overhead work - 0% of shift
Standing - 35% of shift
Walking - 35% of shift
Lifting up to 40 pounds - 5% of shift
Employees must execute essential work activities, with or without appropriate accommodations.

Other Requirements:
Pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical

Work Environment:
Work normally takes place in a climate-controlled office. The loudness in the office is normally low. Visits to fabrication shops may be required for work. The fabrication shop requires personal protection equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs/muffs, and steel-toed boots.
