    Job Summary

    As the Accounts Receivable Lead, you will strategically oversee our accounts receivable function, ensuring timely billing, efficient collections, accurate cash applications, and solid revenue recognition support. This key role involves leading the A/R team, implementing best practices, enhancing internal controls, and collaborating with Finance, Sales, and Operations to optimize cash flow and improve the customer experience.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Leadership & Team Management

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Receivable team in billing, collections, and cash application functions.
    • Set department goals and performance standards aligned with company financial objectives.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and manage performance improvement plans.
    • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of A/R staff.
    • Allocate workloads and establish priorities to meet business demands effectively.

    Accounts Receivable Operations

    • Manage the complete accounts receivable lifecycle, ensuring accurate invoicing and collections.
    • Ensure invoices are generated accurately and in a timely manner as per contractual agreements.
    • Review and approve credit limits and collection strategies based on customer profiles.
    • Resolve escalated customer billing disputes and collection issues to maintain satisfaction.
    • Manage write-offs and refund processes per policy and approval authority.

    Credit, Collections & Cash Flow Optimization

    • Develop and uphold policies to minimize bad debt while fostering strong customer relationships.
    • Monitor accounts receivable trends and customer payment behaviors.
    • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve payment issues effectively.
    • Identify strategies to accelerate cash collections and improve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

    Compliance, Controls & Audit

    • Establish strong internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
    • Ensure adherence to legal requirements regarding billing and collections practices.
    • Support audits by preparing documentation and addressing findings promptly.
    • Oversee maintenance of accurate customer master data.

    Reporting, Analysis & Process Improvement

    • Prepare and analyze A/R reports, including aging and cash forecasts.
    • Provide insights to Finance leadership on A/R performance and risks.
    • Lead initiatives for process improvements and system enhancements.
    • Document A/R policies and procedures to enhance transparency and efficiency.

    Cross-Functional Partnership

    • Collaborate with Accounting to support month-end and year-end processes.
    • Partner with Sales and Legal on billing terms and dispute resolution.
    • Be the primary contact for escalated internal and customer A/R issues.

    Required Skills/Abilities

    • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in negotiation.
    • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP and A/R systems.
    • Comprehensive understanding of accounts receivable processes and best practices.
    • Knowledge of legal regulations regarding billing and collections.
    • High attention to detail with strong multitasking abilities.
    • Professional judgment and discretion with sensitive financial matters.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • Minimum of 5 years in accounts receivable, with 2 years in a managerial role.
    • Experience in a mid-to-large corporate environment preferred.
    • ERP system experience is strongly preferred.

    Compensation details: $75,000 - $90,000 annual salary

    Our headquarters and manufacturing facility are located in Hendersonville, TN, just outside of Nashville.
