Southbay Structure is a structural design and consulting firm located in San Jose, California.

Our licensed and registered structural engineers specialize in the design of new commercial building projects as well as remodeling, tenant improvements, and additions to existing buildings.

Over the past 3 years, we have completed over 500 projects.

Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Structural Engineering Intern. The internship spans 12 weeks with an hourly wage of $27/hr. Paid holidays, vacation and medical insurance are provided in accordance with company policy. Toward the end of the internship, a performance review will be conducted. The intern will have the opportunity to become a full-time employee based on performance.

Qualifications
Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Structural Engineering or a related field
Experience with CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Revit, is a plus
Strong work ethic and attention to detail


Job Responsibilities:
Perform structural engineering analysis and design of wood, steel, and concrete structures, using hand calculations or finite element analysis software
Prepare technical reports and calculations
Prepare CAD drawings and sketches
Manage schedule for assigned projects
Work with the Engineering Team to build and maintain library and resources
Collaborate with principals and clients to prepare and participate in meetings as requested
Communicate with clients (Architects, Contractors, Building Department officials) and other engineers in a professional manner towards project goals, in writing and/or in face to face/phone call conversations
Maintain high level of professional and engineering ethics
