    Job Summary:

    As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, you will play a crucial role in assisting with complex surgical procedures related to the cardiovascular system.

    You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety and well-being of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. This role requires a high level of expertise, teamwork, and attention to detail.


    Responsibilities:

    Preoperative Preparation:
    Assess and prepare patients for cardiovascular surgical procedures. Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist. Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.


    Intraoperative Support:
    Assist the surgical team during procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, and providing instrumentation. Monitor and maintain sterile field integrity. Continuously assess the patient's vital signs and respond promptly to any changes. Administer medications and fluids as ordered by the surgeon or anesthesiologist. Operate and troubleshoot specialized CVOR equipment, such as heart-lung machines and intra-aortic balloon pumps.


    Postoperative Care:
    Transition patients to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or cardiac intensive care unit (CICU). Monitor patients for post-surgical complications and provide appropriate interventions. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Educate patients and their families on postoperative care and recovery.


    Documentation and Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate and complete medical records. Document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.


    Safety and Infection Control:
    Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent surgical site infections. Ensure the safety of patients and staff during surgical procedures.


    Qualifications:
    Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cardiovascular operating room setting. BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification. CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures. Proficient in the use of CVOR equipment and technology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
