    Description

    FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:


    Employee provides strategic supports to schools' staff and other district personnel to facilitate the development of effective systems and practices for a positive culture and climate for all WS/FCS school communities as it relates to school-wide core behavior practices.

    All systems and practices are aligned with and support the on-going work of the Multi-System of Supports (MTSS) initiative as outlines by the NC Department of Public Instruction.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develops and delivers appropriate training/professional development for school and district staff that facilitates the development of a positive culture and climate and is aligned with the implementation of MTSS.
    • Provides consultation and assistance to school staff and district personnel in the successful implementation of systems and practices that support positive culture, climate, and behavior aligned to core behavior practices and the district's Code of Character, Conduct and Support.
    • Works closely with and serves as a liaison with multiple departments.
    • Provides support and training to school personnel on using the behavior data for problem solving and planning. Provides regular reports to district level staff regarding system-wide behavior data. Is familiar with other district data management systems and consults and collaborates with the personnel in charge of those systems.
    • Develops an effective monitoring and evaluation system, which includes data collection and indicators to measure the effectiveness and impact of training and program development.
    • Reads various publications and attends various workshops, seminars, and conferences to continuously upgrade professional knowledge.
    • Prepares and maintains a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities, and operations.
    • Communicates and collaborates with administrators, district personnel, outside organizations, and the school community to coordinate activities and programs, and resolve issues and conflicts.
    • Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
    • Participates in regularly scheduled departmental and other district meetings as required/requested.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of current research on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
    • Knowledge of the Strategic Plan, the Framework for Teaching and Learning, and how they pertain to academic intervention strategies, and support services in helping all children succeed.
    • Knowledge of and ability to articulate and achieve alignment around the goals, objectives, and outcomes for the MTSS program.
    • Knowledge of state regulations and policies regarding EC work and experience working with the Exceptional Children's Department
    • Ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.
    • Ability to work independently and to contribute as a team member.
    • Ability to work confidently and with discretion.
    • Ability to maintain positive internal relationships with other WSFCS departments and staff members.
    • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally in formal and informal venues to a variety of audiences and during day-to-day conversations.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
    • Ability to value diversity.
    • Ability to analyze data and modify approaches accordingly.
    • Ability to develop programs to meet the diverse needs of children.
    • Proficiency in the use of software (i.e., ECATS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Canvas, iReady, Powerschool, Performance Matters and any other software used in conjunction with curriculum).
    • Excellent written and verbal skills.
    • Effective consultation and coaching skills.
    • Proficiency with developing and conducting workshops for district and school personnel.
    • Skill in utilizing data for aid in decision making.
    • Effective interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships among stakeholders to support the implementation of a MTSS model.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational skills.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology or related field and five years teaching experience including two years of program development, implementation, and monitoring of positive behavior and understanding of NC MTSS.
    • Preferred: Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or related field and five years of teaching experience including experience using adult learning practices to develop effective professional development, including the use of technology in trainings; as well as, experience providing coaching, consulting, and implementation of behavior systems.

    CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Valid NC Teacher Licensure
    • Valid NC Driver's License

    Pay Grade:
    Certified Teacher Pay Scale - Full Time Position - 12 Months
