- 4+ years of HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial setting
- Experience with or desire to learn refrigeration
- Experience with mechanical troubleshooting on HVAC units, Air Handlers, and Air compressors
- Ability to read P&ID's – blueprints for mechanical systems and equipment
- Experience working with a BAS system
- EPA certification also called Universal Certification
- Pharma background
- Any FDA regulated industry
- Military background
- Extensive industrial experience involving utility systems with a strong knowledge of HVAC, steam, potable water and knowledge of "APOGEE" BAS is preferred
- Experience with a variety of commercial or industrial utility equipment such as boilers, chillers, air compressors, freezers etc.
- Experience working with a building automation system (BAS) similar to Siemens, Honeywell, JCI etc.
- Experience with a work order management system like SAP, Maximo, Blue Mountain or something similar
- Industrial experience involving utility system generation, distribution and controls are needed.
- industrial electrical distribution (low/medium voltages), HVAC/R systems, WFI, clean steam, utility generation equipment à glycol, steam, condensation, steam traps
- Ability to read P&ID's, electrical drawings, blueprints etc.
- Experience monitoring critical alarms
- Experience with Delta V control system
- Prior experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP environment

The HVAC&R Technician will provide maintenance supporting vaccine process equipment operations. Takes appropriate action to correct Plant Engineering maintenance problems. Responsible for supporting MMD (Merck Manufacturing Division) Divisional site mission by assuring quality of products and services are of the highest quality, optimal cost, and delivered on schedule. Responsible for supporting departmental vision that will provide for continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation. Must be able to function in a team-based empowered culture. Seeks ideas and information on how to improve customer service involving internal and external customers. Applies knowledge of the overall supply chain to efficiently complete work tasks.

One of our largest pharmaceutical clients in the Durham area is looking for Utilities Technicians to join their plant engineering department. The Utilities Technician will be responsible for efficient operation, system monitoring, and reliability centered maintenance of all clean utilities in plant engineering. The successful candidate must understand and know how to troubleshoot, repair and calibrate reverse osmosis systems, clean steam generators, vapor compression still and water for injection systems. The successful candidate will actively support, participate and embrace an empowered team culture including significant interaction with Automation, Quality and other support groups.
