    LOCATION: Corp HQ, Charlotte NC

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    ROLE:

    The Corporate EHS Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the wellbeing of our employees by promoting a safe and healthy work environment. The Corporate EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of safety for all employees, contractors and visitors as well as the protection of property and our environment. The position oversees, ensures and advises as to compliance with local, state and federal environmental health and safety regulations and standards. Compliance responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training, policy/procedure development and enforcement, inspections, reporting and appropriate record-keeping. This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong organizational, data management, follow up and communication skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and optimizing operational processes in the area of environmental management, health protection and occupational safety.
    • Develop, implement and maintain EHS policies, programs and procedures to ensure the health and safety of our employees and compliance with local, state and federal regulations as well as industry standards.
    • Ensures that all plant/corporate incidents, accidents, property damage, fires, unsafe conditions and/or near misses are reported appropriately, investigated and corrective and preventative measures have been implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Conduct risk assessments at the plant locations to identify, evaluate and mitigate potential EHS hazards within the workplace.
    • Provide training and education to plants, EE and management to enhance awareness and understanding of EHS policies and procedures.
    • Oversee the environmental corporate initiatives, such as waste management, pollution prevention and the company's sustainability efforts.
    • Develop and maintain companywide safety programs including emergency response plans, evacuation procedures and safety drills. Develop train the trainer programs to ensure education, compliance and the overall establishment of a safety culture across the organization.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes to ensure our EHS programs are current, effective and complaint.
    • Manage the EHS budget, identify cost effective solutions for EHS initiatives and equipment purchases based on OSHA standards and work environment.
    • Ensure implementation of the Environmental Management Information System.
    • Assist Genpak's plant EHS managers and coordinators with environmental compliance programs and reports related to hazardous wastes, air permitting, water pollution control, risk management plans, process safety management, and community right-to-know programs.
    • Oversee and develop programs and opportunities for EHS requirements for onsite contractors and vendors.
    • Travel to all Genpak plants and be visible to all shifts and departments.
    • Work closely with cross functional teams including operations, maintenance, engineering, human resources to integrate EHS practices into daily operations at all locations.
    • Serve as primary point of contact and plant liaison for government agencies.
    • Be available to assist and make recommendations 24/7 in emergency situations.
    Requirements

    EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERINCE

    In addition to the roles and responsibilities, the Corporate EHS manager should possess skills to effectively manage workplace safety, promote a culture of health and safety throughout the organization and ensure compliance guidelines. This role demands:
    • A degree in safety, science or a relevant field.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience within Environmental, Health Safety compliance in a manufacturing environment with multisite oversight.
    • Strong leadership, problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • An in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment and safety compliance.
    • Proficient in MS Office and other safety or database applications.
