- CPA with Tax experience
- Either someone coming from Big 4 at the Manager to Sr. Manager level in Tax or a combination of public accounting and industry/corporate tax with 10+ years at the Director level
- Conduct thorough technical reviews of partnership and corporate federal and multi-state tax returns, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
- Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to facilitate the exchange of information necessary for tax planning and compliance reporting.
- Review income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 guidelines.
- Review quarterly and annual SEC filings and disclosures, including audit disclosure checklist.
- Lead and mentor the Tax Manager while actively recruiting new talent for team expansion.
- Stay updated on federal and state tax legislation to assess its impact on company compliance and reporting requirements.
- Oversee compliance with indirect tax regulations and reporting obligations.
- Analyze and communicate sales and use tax matters to senior management.
- Manage external tax service providers' workflow to ensure timely filing and reporting.
- Assess the impact of changes in business structure and transactions on income tax reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements and best practices within the tax department.
- Conduct monthly reviews and analyses of partnership tax distribution calculations, maintaining communication with partners as necessary.
- Conduct quarterly reviews and analyses of TRA liability calculations, valuation allowances, and tax provisions in collaboration with external tax service provider.
- Manage external tax provider to prepare studies related to R&D tax credits and Sec.
- Handle external tax audits, including income, sales and use, and property taxes.
- Act as a strategic tax partner, proactively identifying opportunities for tax savings and providing feedback through ad hoc analysis or presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in federal and state taxation.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns for corporations and partnerships.
- Active CPA certification.
- Proficiency in accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent research and writing abilities.
- Analytical skills to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Title: Senior Director (or VP) of Tax
Compensation: $180K - $220K (DOE) plus 20% bonus and equity
Location: 20 min north of Dallas
Hybrid, 2-3 days a week on site
