    Description

    Job Title: Senior Dosimetrist

    Description:

    The Senior Dosimetrist is responsible for designing treatment plans under the direction of Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncologists. This position has broad knowledge of radiation equipment and radioactive sources, and stays up-to-date with the latest technology through continuing education.

    The Senior Dosimetrist effectively teaches and mentors others in various aspects of Dosimetry. This position independently creates complex treatment plans using any treatment modality on any treatment planning software in the department.

    The Senior Dosimetrist provides oversight and leadership for new treatment techniques and works with physicists to maintain Brachytherapy programs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Communicate with radiation therapists to implement treatment plans
    • Mentor Dosimetrists and radiation therapists to build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities
    • Facilitate open communication to achieve mutual understanding and provide clear and professional service
    • Develop complex treatment plans and make recommendations for desired outcomes
    • Create and transfer reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery
    • Perform calculations for accurate dose delivery and document pertinent information in patient records

    Requirements:

    • Graduate of education program approved by credentialing body
    • Four years experience as a Dosimetrist or equivalent experience with progressive abilities
    • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (MDCB) certification
    • Basic Life Support (AHA) certification
