    Objective:
    The Senior Mainframe Server Administrator is the principal expert in IBM and 3rd party software products for automation & scheduling, with a focus on OPC/Operator Dynamic Dialog Subsystem (ODDS). This role incorporates functions of a Software Architect and Specialist for OPC/ODDS and Batch Scheduler. The Senior Mainframe Server Administrator evaluates, implements, and maintains IBM software, third-party software, management systems, computer applications, and operating systems.

    Typical Deliverables:

    • Maintain the OPC/ODDS and JES2 software environment.
    • Migrate OPC schedule to ODDS and train staff on ODDS scheduling.
    • Install, modify, and customize IBM and third-party software using SMP/E & IEBCOPY.
    • Implement backup and recovery procedures, including Business Recovery concerns.
    • Monitor system software access, performance, and resource utilization.
    • Act as a liaison between application programmers and vendors to resolve software problems.
    • Develop and modify technical documentation to support operations and training.
    • Provide 24/7/365 software support, including on-call support during off-hours.

    Required Skills & Abilities:

    • 20+ years of experience with mainframe software management on z/OS operating system.
    • Experience with scheduling/automation software products such as OPC and ODDS.
    • Proficiency in installing and customizing IBM and third-party software using SMP/E & IEBCOPY.
    • Ability to write, read, and debug programs in batch and online environments.
    • Expert knowledge of OPC, ODDS, TMON, RMF MON III, JCL, ISPF, and SDSF.
    • Experience with Assembler, REXX, CLISTs, z/OS UNIX environment, and utilities.
    • Familiarity with RACF, JES2, SMS, FDR, JHS, and DIF.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, sharing ideas and taking direction.
