    Description

    PM for Blue Raven

Love organizing checklists? Hate surprises (except maybe on birthdays)? Want to help people tame chaos? Were looking for a sharp project management consultant who can collaborate with our technology experts and build amazing relationships with clients.

Location: Denver, CO. We work remotely with clients, but do want to build a core team here in Denver. You'll mostly work from home, but in the future we may establish an office. You may need to travel to client locations, but only very rarely.

Commitment: for starters, part-time, approximately 5-10 hours per week on an agreed-upon monthly retainer. This is a independent contractor position to start, with a possibility of moving to full-time employee status (w-2) as we grow.

Were a start-up, so youll need to be prepared for that. Weve built companies before and know how to operate, but its early days. We have a few clients and are working hard to bring in more.

    Whats the Role?

You will be responsible for leading client teams, collaborating with clients, and ensuring the successful delivery of both strategic consulting services and day to day coordination. Youll work in tandem with a technology consultant (fractional CIO, CTO, etc) and, when needed, provide PM services to clients.

    Whats Success Look Like?

We measure client retention and client satisfaction, and we assess how well each of us helps build a positive community within Blue Raven. We also look for folks who foster relationships beyond our team through networking, connecting with groups, and more. While you wont be in a sales position, well want you to help make rain.

Youll be one of our very first team members, so success also includes helping the business figure itself out, put best practices into place, and invent a new company. For some (perhaps were a bit nuts), this can be pretty fun work.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build trust though competence, reliability, and a genuine focus on our clients' needs.
    • Lead and manage a variety of consulting efforts from inception to completion.
    • Foster and maintain strong client relationships, act as the primary point of contact.
    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with clients communicate, report on status, schedule and lead meetings, share notes.
    • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
    • Connect our work to business outcomes and value.
    • Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposal writing and client presentations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred. That said, we will absolutely consider non-traditional backgrounds. If you can deliver the work, and are a right fit for what were trying to achieve, please help us see what you bring to the table.
    • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in a consulting environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
    • Do what you say, when you say. Be true to your word.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Trello, MS Project).
    • Willingness to travel to client locations as required.

    What We Offer

Were a young company, so at present just a contract position without benefits. That said, our founder has taken two companies into the Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list and is aiming for a third. We believe that work matters, life matters, and you matter. A job starts with a paycheck, but cant end there. Theres got to be agency, a mission, a vision, a team, and the chance to grow. We believe we can offer all of that.

We also believe in being open: for compensation, we expect something in the range of $90 to $140 per hour. Again, as a fixed monthly retainer we agree upon each month and a commitment focused on results, not effort. We dont bill by the hour, and wont pay that way too.

We're also big believers that diversity makes for better consulting. If you worry you don't fit some preordained mold, don't hesitate. Let's explore what you have to offer.

    About Blue Raven

Were a service firm and currently a start-up. We provide fractional (part-time) technology leadership services either by project or on a monthly retainer. Our objectives vary widely: we assess tech services, we help hire teams, we select vendors, we create project roadmaps, we assist with goal setting, budgets, funding, and business plans. We put out fires. We identify where IT is broken. We roll up our sleeves and get work done.

As a consultant, youll have to be flexible, smart, and most importantly build trust. Dont be fooled: our work is all about people first, tech second. Likely things will start with one client engagement and may grow to a handful. We incentivize retaining and bringing in new business as well.

    Why Join?

We know because weve been there that traditional consulting can be a lonely job. We serve clients in teams. More broadly were a community: we share knowledge, we grow together, we support continuing education, and we help carry the load.

Were building an amazing service firm that takes a lot of the drudgery out of being a consultant. We automate, we create tools, we define and support best practices. We bring in new work through sales and marketing, we handle invoicing, we pay folks on time.

We strive to be successful together and share the rewards. We value both time and money. Were flexible. We know careers need to grow and that good work matters.

We sincerely want to help our clients, share mutual respect, and foster real trust.

    Our Story

We founded the company after decades of software consulting because we found that custom software often didnt make enough of a real impact for folks. We made some good tools, but didnt change the world for our clients.

Lets face it, computer technology is pretty awful, even today. Managing IT is hard, even for tech people, let alone for business leaders who are just trying to get the missions of their companies right.

Thats where we come in. We help businesses manage tech well. We look at costs, we organize, we plan, we hire, and we replace pain, frustration, and surprises with true, no kidding capacities for innovation.

    Tech Is a Team Sport

Rather than just an introduction to a lone tech person, we bring a bench of talent to client engagements. We have both project managers and tech specialists to ensure we have the right skills for the right work.

    We Align

We dont bill by the hour because we believe results are more important than effort. Client alignment is the key to our greatest success, so we dont sell managed services or take a cut of vendor deals. Our advice always comes with no strings attached and no conflicts of interest.

    How To Apply

First, submit this application via LinkedIn. We'll then email and ask some candidates for more detail. From there, we'll interview by Zoom and finally in-person. It's really important that we get this right, so please be prepared. We'll want to get to know you well, and apologize in advance if we decide not to move you to the next round.
