Valar Atomics is a startup in El Segundo, CA.

We aim to synthesize liquid hydrocarbon fuels using process heat from nuclear fission, unlocking the potential of fission to make abundant carbon-neutral energy.

We're hiring a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to build control systems for our nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities
You will design and build embedded control systems for our first nuclear reactor and its cooling system. Systems may include PCBs, microcontrollers, firmware, thermocouples, mass-flow sensors, solenoids, and servo motors, among others.

As our first I&C engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing our engineering culture, and assist in hiring and managing other I&C engineers as our team grows.

You will report to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications
A desire to make a future where energy is clean and abundant.
A degree in electrical engineering is helpful.
Ability to write firmware for embedded systems, and software to collect and analyze sensor data.
Experience in control systems, robotics, etc.

This is a full-time position at our headquarters in the Los Angeles area, with salary and equity dependent upon experience.
